Georgette Plomp and Olof Waltman from the Club of 1-1-2 visited FireWare in early August to put the finishing touches on the Design Team’s work: the voice-over for the animation character Fireman Bob. Georgette and Olof left satisfied and pleasantly surprised the team with a nice note on the whiteboard!
What is the Club of 1-1-2?
The Club of 1-1-2 is an initiative of the Safety Region Rotterdam-Rijnmond (VRR) aimed at raising children’s awareness of fire safety in and around the home in a playful and interactive way. This safety region consists of 15 municipalities and is the largest safety region in the Netherlands, with around 1.2 million residents. With such a large population, there’s a lot that can go wrong, as is the case with the Brandjes family.
In a recreated house at the Schiedam fire station, the Brandjes family resides, including the brothers Bram, Edwin, Rudi, their parents Winston and Gerda Brandjes, and let’s not forget their cat Billy! In the Brandjes family’s home, things often go wrong, and they are not always aware that danger is just around the corner, leading to fires in different rooms!
Fortunately, Fireman Bob is there to help them! Together with Fireman Bob, the children complete tasks in various rooms and learn in different and educational ways how to prevent fires in their own homes. In the Brandjes family’s house, you’ll find a real living room, bedroom, kitchen, garden, fire extinguishing game, and even a control room where children also learn about other dangers on the street.
Breathing New Life!
FireWare, in collaboration with the Safety Region Rotterdam-Rijnmond, has worked on the redevelopment of the Club of 1-1-2. This involved creating exciting animation videos featuring family members, recording voice-overs, and designing games such as interactive birdhouses for an electrical game. We’ve once again experienced how beautiful co-creation can be because the Club of 1-1-2 also worked tirelessly to make it something special!
