Awesome! Yesterday was the Expert Day for National Fire Prevention Weeks at the IFV in Arnhem. Arne Dewaet, the fire prevention coordinator at the East Flemish Brabant rescue zone was one of the speakers. He inspired the visitors with an explanation of the campaign "Leefbrandveilig.be". He had also brought a very nice information vehicle! Namely the information vehicle of the “Van Vlam” family.
Measuring is knowing
We enjoyed working on this vehicle. And we also think it is very cool that the collection of data about citizens' knowledge of fire safety is receiving increasing attention. This vehicle compiles extensive reports based on the answers of visitors. As a result, we know more and more about the level of knowledge of citizens in the field of fire safety!
We have already written a piece about measuring Fire Safe Living projects at a sister installation of the Vlam: The Kameleon Race of the Fryslân Safety Region. The Van Vlam measures the data in the same way as this information vehicle. It is nice that the data from these two installations now can be compared. This may provide new international insights, with which even better and more targeted information can be provided!
Gold, silver and bronze smoke detectors
During the Expert Day, the gold, silver and bronze smoke detector were also awarded for the BVL projects in the Netherlands. We congratulate the “Leefsamen Achterhoek” project of the North-East Gelderland Safety Region with obtaining the golden smoke detector. In this project, a thousand households with vulnerable elderly people are provided with smart smoke detectors.
Of course we also congratulate the winners of the silver smoke detector; Security regions Noord-Holland Noord, Midden-West Brabant and Utrecht, with their Project Gamification. This is a game on Facebook that provides the visitor with safety tips.
Safety region Drenthe
And of course our congratulations for the bronze smoke detector of the Drenthe Safety Region. She developed the Fire Safe Living teaching program in collaboration with the students of the PABO. Here, primary school students learn in a playful way how to program a robot and how to perform all kinds of fire brigade-related tasks.
We were also allowed to realize a Fire Safe Living container for the Drenthe Fire Department. Here the visitor drives in the back of a tanker to various causes of fire.
