Are you looking for a speaker for your event? FireWare has extensive experience in delivering lectures in the Netherlands and abroad. Whether for small groups or large audiences, from 30 minutes to a multi-day program, a lot is possible! A lecture (or workshop) can be conducted in Dutch, English, or German. Take a look at some example lectures:
Creating Realistic Training Environments: Your own surroundings as a realistic training centre!
In this lecture, we take you into the wonderful world of realistic staging. How do you simulate an incident as realistically as possible? And how do you achieve your intended learning and training objectives? Using numerous practical examples, we share successes as well as blunders, as they are worth mentioning too!
FireWare originated in the theater and film industry. Over the past 20 years, we have gained extensive experience in applying techniques from these sectors to enhance the professionalism of emergency responders, whether it's the fire department, police, defense, ambulance services, or private organizations. Visualization is crucial for every realistic scenario!
Step by step, we guide you on how to use your own village, city, airport, port, factory, or any other environment as a realistic training center. Often, you can achieve this using your existing training resources or materials that you can find in your own garage or buy from the supermarket.
This lecture is highly practical, and participants will leave with a wealth of immediately applicable tips and tricks!
Gamification: Another way of staging
The incident is fake, but the dilemmas are real... This actually forms the basis of any good, realistic exercise. But what if we let go of scenario training? What if we achieve our learning and training objectives through games?
What are the advantages and disadvantages? How are games already being used in the emergency services industry? What does it take to design a truly good game? From board games to escape rooms, from simple to complex.
Games are not necessarily childish; they can be a valuable tool for achieving your intended learning and training objectives!
It is even possible to present this lecture in workshop format, where we collaboratively work on developing a new game specifically tailored to your target audience!
Staging is Emoting
During a realistic exercise, a lot of attention is given to physical safety. It is crucial that participants can go through their training without getting harmed. But what about mental safety? What parameters influence it? What should you consider? And how significant can the mental impact of a realistic exercise be? Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a parameter that should not be underestimated.
This lecture is a collaboration between FireWare and Mentaal Bewust (Mental Awareness). Speakers Jasper Weijling, Paul Weijling, and Sef Hendrickx take you into the world of realistic staging and mental safety. Through practical examples and relevant theories, they provide instructors and leaders with tools to ensure mental safety during a realistic exercise or staging.
If you want to know more about the content of this lecture, prepare by reading the whitepaper "Staging is emoting: Mental safety guidelines during realistic exercises"! During this session, we dive even deeper.
How to design a training center?
What is involved when developing a training center or training facility? In this lecture, we guide you through all the steps involved in designing your own training environment. Where do you start? What challenges will you encounter?
This lecture discusses the design process through several practical case studies. It explores the choices that have been made and why. The audience will leave with concrete, directly applicable tips and tricks!
One of the extensively discussed topics will be the problem of "object saturation." The phenomenon where a training facility becomes highly predictable over time. How do you keep a training facility challenging in the long run?
How do you address current issues? Think about topics like energy transition and extreme weather. Can you really say that a training center is ever "complete"? And how important are the details for achieving your learning and training objectives? How do you prevent missing anything? These are all topics covered in this lecture!
Frequently asked questions
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions!
Does FireWare turn it into a sales pitch when providing training materials?
Certainly not! FireWare is primarily a knowledge institute in the field of realistic staging. Yes, we also provide training materials, design training centers, and have a simulation team. We are perfectly capable of separating these functions. Nobody wants a sales pitch during an event. In fact, it would work against us!
What is the cost of having a lecture delivered by FireWare?
That cannot be determined easily. It strongly depends on the location, number of attendees, duration of the lecture, travel and accommodation expenses, travel time, and required preparation time. We will always provide a proper quotation. If you want a rough idea of the costs, you can take a look at the on-site training options. This will give you an initial indication.
If we provide booth space for FireWare at our event, is it possible to get a discount on a lecture?
That is definitely possible. However, we maintain that our lectures are primarily brand-independent. We use the lecture as a lecture and the booth for other aspects of FireWare.
How far in advance should a lecture be requested?
FireWare is currently extremely busy with providing training. Especially for weekend lectures, evening sessions, and multi-day events, it is advisable not to wait too long to schedule an appointment.
I would like a custom lecture. Is that possible?
Absolutely! All our lectures are custom-made because no audience or venue is the same. We discuss all the requirements in advance and tailor the lecture accordingly.
Will handouts be provided after the lecture?
After the lecture, an infographic with the most essential information and references will be made available. It's a complete overview on a single A4 sheet! Very practical. Handouts of the complete presentation will not be shared.
Can photos and videos be taken during the presentation?
Certainly! Feel free to take photos and share them on social media! Referring to FireWare's social media accounts would be highly appreciated. Video recordings can be arranged by agreement. However, it is not allowed to record the entire presentation, in whole or in part, and make it available outside the event.
Is there an opportunity to ask questions during a lecture?
Of course! We love it when the session is interactive!
