One of the first training exercises FireWare was involved with was a fire simulation in a hospital. This hospital, the Meander Medical Centre in Amersfoort, was the scene of a major troops effort. The emergency response team ensured a dialysis department was quickly and efficiently cleared, whilst the fire was spreading at a rapid pace. There were a number of technical staging challenges which needed to be overcome:
-
- The hospital needed to remain operational throughout the training exercise. So there could be absolutely no risk of damage to the building and installations.
-
- A large number of people were involved with the training exercise: imaging is crucial both inside and outside.
-
- Some of the staging materials were positioned on top of the hospital roof. The radiology department is located below the roof and magnetic fields therefore needed to be taken into consideration.
This Staging was constructed in just 5 hours and dismantled again in 2 hours.
