The theatre and film industry forms the basis of FireWare's DNA. The application of theatre technology runs like a common thread through our projects and products. We were pleasantly surprised when we were asked to become part of a cool film project. Through producer Ewoud Bon we received the request to contribute to the short feature film "De Blauwe Maagd". Ewoud was looking for a way to produce realistic mist for the final scene of this dramatic film. You’ve come to the right address, Ewoud!
De Blauwe Maagd (The Blue Virgin)
"De Blauwe Maagd" is a unique, internationally oriented dramatic film with a cynical and comical edge. The director of the Dutch-French short film is young talent Tim Klok. Renowned actor Pierre Bokma plays the leading role. Bokma takes on the role of Thomas, a wealthy Dutch man. When his wife Nathalie, played by Sytske van der Ster, is kidnapped on their romantic holiday in the South of France, he tries to buy her back with his fortune. Thomas, however, becomes entangled in an age-old feud...
On December 1, 2018, "De Blauwe Maagd" premiered at the Eindhoven Film Festival 2018. The audience described the film as an experience in itself, with great acting and an eye for detail. We were glad to hear that the team was able to make the film they had in mind!
Stagecraft
The fact that Ewoud knocked on FireWare's door for the creation of a realistic mist image was a huge honour for our team. Our colleagues breathe theatre. It felt like the crowning glory when the smoke machines developed by FireWare were used at the film location. The Stratus smoke machines together with the perforated smoke-hose sets worked perfectly in the Mont Ventoux mountains. For us, this gave the ending of the already beautiful film a golden edge. We are glad that we have been able to contribute to this wonderful project!
