CREATING REALISTIC TRAINING ENVIRONMENTS

Busy with the realisation of “THE CONTROL ROOM” at Intertraining

17 March 2020

Intertraining is one of the most innovative emergency trainers in the Netherlands. Their training centre produced in 2017 a scoop with the first escape room for emergency response officers. FireWare could develop this concept at the time and produce it. Meanwhile, several escape rooms are already in use in the Netherlands. Intertraining was ready for the next step!

All the experience gained by FireWare and Intertraining in recent years in the field of gamification in safety education has been carefully evaluated. The good elements are retained and improvements were brought to a higher level. This has led to a totally new concept for Intertraining: "THE CONTROL ROOM."

Assume the role of a person receiving the notices

Participants are divided into three groups and each mans their own control room. During their work they are challenged to handle four reports. They aid the victims and those at the other end of the line and find the best solutions for their incident.

They assist in different ways. Consider answering questions, scanning objects and documents that are present in the room or even acts of the rescuer at the other end of the line. The entire game is fully interactive and dynamic. By means of the video walls and sound and light effects, the course participant is fully engaged in an interactive experience.

THE CONTROL ROOM can be used for different games and messages. This makes the system not only ideal for emergency response training but also for other (professional) target groups. It is even possible for us to create a customised game.

Innovative installation

The entire system is designed to make students be a better emergency response team. It certainly is not solely about testing the student. At a wrong or incomplete answer, also fully automated an appropriate instruction is given.

Much attention has been paid to the interior climate. An advanced air conditioning system ensures that the rooms are not "stuffy" or have an unpleasant temperature. The indoor climate is extremely important for the experience and the learning curve of the students!

To the next stage

This week, the mechanics of FireWare have started with the assembly of the gaming and simulation technique. In the perfectly prepared spaces 11 screens, speakers, cameras and game consoles are placed. We start the business day with the filled cakes that have been taken by Steven Seek Land Intertraining for the FireWare engineers. A better start to the placing at location is not possible!
