All departments devoted to improving skills in the emergency response sector are currently struggling to cope – how can one ensure that emergency responders become skilled and maintain those skills in a world without physical contact? How can an organisation use practices such as evening courses, which not only serve to instruct participants, but also have a social aim – a social aim that is more important than ever today!
Digital practical evening sessions for the North-Holland North Safety Region
FireWare and the North-Holland North Safety Region are working together to host a number of online practical evening sessions. Using our specially fitted-out studio, a series of interactive lessons will be transmitted, with participants able to join in from home. Our intention is to take these sessions much further than a standard webinar or Microsoft Teams meeting. We’ve also placed a focus on the social component of these sessions with an online post-session drink.
A steep learning curve
Richard Doornbos of the North-Holland North Safety Region team and the FireWare team are embarking on this new adventure together. There are many aspects that must be studied and improved on, but by tackling it together we will be able to create something that is both new and great! Our first trial run will be next Wednesday, and we will use the results of that session to further develop and modify the concept. Both organisations are devoting much time and energy to this, the creation of a fantastic project.
Starting small, growing bigger
We will initially work with a small pilot group to ensure that the concept is well set-up, after which the online evening courses will become scalable. We intend to see an ever-increasing number of fire brigade staff and others participating. Aside from evening courses for fire-fighters, the studio can also be used for courses aimed at other emergency responders. We anticipate that we will be running at full steam by the end of next week.
