CREATING REALISTIC TRAINING ENVIRONMENTS

Pan fire simulation at the Risk Factory in North Limburg

The Risk Factory is an amazing project that makes both children and senior citizens aware of health and safety risks through experiencing them themselves. FireWare was approached by the experiential centre in Venlo to assist in creating an interactive scenario that would contribute to the educational goals and the atmosphere of the safety institute.

Working closely with Jim Caris, Danique Willemsen and Nick Boersma of the Risk Factory in North Limburg, we decided to create a pan fire scenario using the existing facilities. The mock house with a working kitchen in the Risk Factory was naturally a fantastic backdrop for the simulation!

Pan fire goals

FireWare's staging specialists were challenged to create a scenario without any damage or changes made to the set. That's why we avoided any major dismantling and instead placed the emphasis on built-in installations and smart power regulation.

The pan fire simulation was created using a Nimbo smoke machine, a FireSpot and a CO2 jet. We also used customised control technology, allowing the instructor to control the entire scenario remotely. When the pan is incorrectly extinguished, the result is a highly realistic one that stimulates all the senses of the visitors.

The Risk Factory in North Limburg

The Risk Factory in North Limburg first opened its doors in 2019, with its primary goal being to make children in grade 8 and higher as well as vulnerable elderly people aware of fire hazards. They use a number of different approaches to explore this issue, and visitors to the safety institute get to witness a genuine show. They follow a fixed route that will always take them to the kitchen. We are very pleased that we have enhanced their experience of the visit, thanks to our new scenario!
