CREATING REALISTIC TRAINING ENVIRONMENTS

Festive opening of the information vehicle “the House of the Van der Werf Family” of the Gelderland-South Safety Region

08 July 2021

Yesterday the new fire-safe living experience "The house of the Van der Werf family" of the Gelderland-South Safety Region was put into use in a spectacular way. After the summer, this information container will be used in every municipality within the security region to inform people about fire safety and, above all, to encourage the public to take measures to make their own home (more) fire safe.

The realization of the new information vehicle can legitimately be called a co-creation between the Fire Safety team and the 24-hour service of the Nijmegen Fire Brigade and FireWare. By focusing on co-creation as much as possible, nothing has been sacrificed on the end result, while the experience has been delivered within the investment budget.

With a joint push of the red button, the information vehicle was spectacularly presented to the employees involved in the construction. This honour was bestowed upon Maurice Buitink (24-hour service), Brigitte Bouwhuis (fire safety specialist) and Elke Runia, who was closely involved in the construction on behalf of FireWare.

Treat

On the festive afternoon there was a toast with champagne and Brigitte passed around with a bowl full of “The house of the van der Werf family pastry”. In addition, we were given a number of traditional Mariken-breads to share with all our colleagues. Thank you!

On behalf of FireWare, we handed over a beautiful bouquet with a coupon that entitles every employee involved in the construction to a kit of a scale model of the information vehicle. In this way the joint realization remains alive!

Tour

In the fire prevention month of October, the Gelderland-South safety region will visit all 14 municipalities with the new information container to instruct on fewer fires, less damage and fewer victims. Until then, ambassadors can of course come and view the experience by appointment. The house of the van der Werf family will also be present at various events and brasseries. This way they can actively connect to the smoke detector obligation that will come into effect on 1 July 2022. Every home must then be equipped with working smoke detectors. We are confident that the safety message will get through!
