The new Preventive Training Facility was put into use during a spectacular open day on 30th October 2015. This great family business from Hedel now has a double burner and 4 scenario locations at its disposal.
FireWare was asked to organise the design and guidance for Preventive. FireWare also supplied the controls and various different effects. This project was a typical example of what working together effectively can lead to. Sparring together created a fantastic basic design, which Preventive subsequently added its own detailed interpretation to. Wendy from Preventive came up with a brilliant idea of interchangeable magnetic walls. This idea has now also been applied in other simulators!
One particularly striking aspect is the beautifully spacious layout. One of Preventive's preconditions was that the students shouldn't be forced too close together during a training exercise. Instead the training should be carried out in a luxurious, fresh environment. Naturally also one which is realistic and safe!
The boiler rooms are equipped with CO, temperature and LEL detection. The air is frequently refreshed. The doors can be heated, in order to allow for the door procedure to be practiced too. The scenario locations are equipped with modern media players for realistic sound effects, flame simulation elements and smoke machines.
Sustainability has always been an important theme within FireWare's designs. We therefore decided to reuse the attachments from the existing burner system for the new VESTA burners. This definitely resulted in some impressive cost and material savings.
The flexible layout will allow Preventive to change the scenarios every year. This will ensure the students can enjoy new challenges and dilemmas during their training for years to come. The boiler room is controlled via a touch screen. The user interface has been especially designed in Preventive's house style. The scenario locations are operated by freely programmable panels. This ensures the button functions can be adjusted in line with the scenario every year.
