FireWare delivered its first Cabin Crew Trainer to the French Air Formation in October 2015. This trainer prepares airline cabin crew for possible fires on board the aircraft.
4 fire sources
This trainer includes 4 different fire sources and simulates a fire in the toilet, in a waste bin in the kitchen, behind a luggage hatch and a fire in a lithium-ion laptop battery. This last simulation is particularly unique. The laptop starts smoking. The laptop can be taken whilst smoking and thrown into the water tank. Again and again! Air Formation is one of the first training centres which can realistically train for this procedure.
Scent and sound effects
These simulations are supported by scent and sound effects. Video support is also provided. It goes without saying there is a fully fledged PA system in order to practice the communication between the cockpit, cabin and passengers. Even the interior light can be adjusted, just like real-life situations. This allows for as realistic as possible a training environment to be created. This simulator is also suitable for scenarios other than fire. This could include decompression, aggression, but also life-saving activities.
The instructor will only need an iPad in order to operate the system, which controls all the Cabin Crew Trainer functions. The application of the Nimbo smoke machines means the system only needs to warm up for 2 minutes and boasts very low energy consumption.
FireWare can now look back on an incredibly enjoyable, but definitely also a very inspirational collaboration with Air Formation and our French dealer Securhit.
