“The voluntary fire service is growing as a result of the junior fire service. Young people often decide to join once they turn eighteen, particularly in the smaller municipalities. Most children end up with the junior fire service via their families or a promotion seen at fairs". According to Aad Buijs. His dad and grandad also formed part of the voluntary fire service and his son has now also joined the junior team. Buijs has now become a professional firefighter, as well as a voluntary board member and competition leader for the National Junior Fire Service.
The Junior Fire Service Netherlands Foundation very regularly organises competitions throughout the entire country. New training materials are purchased with the registration fees. This has also included a trailer full of FireWare training material. The trailer is stored at a central point, ensuring all junior fire service teams can use it, when it’s their turn to organise the competitions.
The various different materials can be used to stage a variety of accident scenarios during competitions. All staging materials are stored in robust flight cases on wheels, ensuring both the storing and moving of the materials is made as easy as possible and making sure everything is optimally protected.
FireWare looked after the complete package. From the trailer to the flight cases and, of course, the contents: the training materials. One unique aspect of the trailer is that the back doors can also be used as a ramp. FireWare believe young people are our future and therefore put together the trailer for a special rate.
Buijs is satisfied about the relationship with FireWare. The answer to how they ever got together in the first place is as follows: “No idea”. Buijs came across FireSales items for fire simulation right across the entire country. Seeing these training materials awakened his interest and he decided to visit the showroom. A very enjoyable collaboration started after an inspiring visit.
