The CCB Group had a new challenge for FireWare, following the revision of the boiler rooms: “Design a training facility where students can independently train with a hose reel” ... A great challenge which FireWare decided to enthusiastically rise to!
Jan Hemmers, owner of the CCB Group, would like to see students gain more independent experience with the hose reel. Independent means that the system is also suitable for use without an instructor. Real fire was therefore not an option. So what would be the best way of tackling this?
We opted for a Wheeled bin as a basis. We were able to create a safe, simulated fire with the use of waterproof smoke, sound and light effects. The student starts with extinguishing once the fire has been ignited. Once a sufficient amount of water has hit the fire, this will be registered by the system and the fire is switched off.
The student can subsequently roll up the hose reel again, after which the exercise is complete. The Wheelie bin will reignite again after a set time, allowing the next student to gain experience. This reignition happens completely automatically, making sure the students can work independently.
The Wheeled bin itself is purely decorative. The simulation technique is housed in separate modules, which can also be used in other objects at a later stage. Ideal for the future!
All of this simulator’s parameters are freely programmable. This can include smoke, sounds, flame effects, any required amount of water on the fire, reignition criteria, time settings, etc. This allows for the training programme to very carefully be adjusted in line with the trainer and student’s requirements.
